Just a quick heads-up on a change in shop hours:
My young cousin Micah (maybe you've met that special little guy Kerby and I hang out with a lot-Charley? It's his dad!) was recently diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease/ALS.
A little about ALS:
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a deadly illness with no known cause or cure.
It affects the motor neurons in a person's brain and spinal cord. When the motor neurons die, the muscles waste away. Gradually, a person is robbed of the ability to walk, speak, eat, and eventually breathe. All the while, the mind remains sharp and aware of the total paralysis that is quickly setting in. Upon diagnosis, doctors give ALS patients only two to five years to live.

I will be spending time with my family on Saturday, Sept. 24th to walk in the Vancouver, WA. Walk to Defeat ALS in support of my cousin and his family, the shop will be closed all day.
If you'd like to donate or just join the team and send a message to show your support for all living with ALS, visit the page: WALK TO DEFEAT ALS! thank you!

deep discounts on classic pieces | sword+fern jewelry sale goes live at midnight tonight on lovingeco.com

To celebrate fall fashion week and my three (!) years in business at the 811 building, I am having an online sale at lovingeco.com with HUGE discounts on all the pieces you love.
My sale starts at midnight tonight and benefits Wholesome Wave: an organization facilitating the link between local agriculture and under-invested communities who demand it, started by the founder of Food&Wine Magazine.
Wholesome Wave is working to give folks the opportunity and incentive to shop at farmer's markets where they can buy local, nutritious foods--the programs are working as we speak; they are active in 26 states, they have 45 partners and over 200 farmers are participating.
Follow me on twitter @swordandfern for the details, I will be tweeting them tonight!
