Anna Korte: Opening July 3rd

Join us this coming First Friday from 5-9 pm for a very special opening celebration for Anna.
We'll have snacks and such, stop by and chat with her about all sorts of amazing things she's into..
ABOUT THE SHOW:
Anna Korte is a jewelry designer based in Portland, OR.
Working primarily with eco-friendly 100% vintage materials, her jewelry is styley-earth conscious.
For her debut show this month at Sword+Fern, 'Metaphysical Mosaic', Anna branches out and showcases her sculptural grace, attention to detail, and heart-felt understanding of beauty, spirit, and form as a large scale minimalist installation involving fiber, intention, and the harmony of space.
R. Buckminster Fuller's 1970 book of poems, Intuition, from which the title of her new work is taken, is a prominent source of inspiration to Korte.

In Anna's words:
' .. For me, creating fiber-based sculpture art fulfills a creative exploration of an inner-world...
like my way down the rabbit hole or finding the key to my secret garden.
At the moment, I am heavily inspired by the works and ideas of R. Buckminster Fuller.
This piece, in particular, is inspired less about the perfection of symmetry, and more about the omni-interrelated universe of which you and I are part.'
Also, come by the studio this weekend for your last chance to view Sarah Gottesdiener's New Work installation before it comes down on Sunday eve.

first friday, june 5th: Sarah Faith Gottesdiener opening party

Hi everyone,
Join us this First Friday at sword+fern for a special opening party and viewing of Sarah Faith Gottesdiener's new work installation.
I happened upon some of Sarah's work this winter and contacted her right away about creating an installation at the studio. This request marks the beginning of a new movement toward reworking sword+fern as a loose and organic active work/show space. The tiny space will come alive with site specific pieces by opening large portions of the walls and floors to spontaneous inspiration and growing works.
The new sword+fern is meant to be an evolving ecosystem where artists come together to interpret their vision, teach each other, and share their work through synchronicity, stories, friendships, and magic.
Please do contact me anytime regarding showing your work or suggesting a spontaneous event or gathering. I am seeking new artists for the upcoming year.
I'm especially interested in events involving multi -media performance, lectures, and conversations on subjects such as technology, science, lost cultures, landscape design, community, film, feminism, botany, music, and functional art.

A message from Sarah Faith Gottesdiener:

Hi Friends:

I have created new work that is going up this week at the wonderful shop/gallery Sword and Fern, run by the very talented and awesome Emily Baker. I hope you can join us in your first Friday travels for a short reception this Friday, June 5th, from 6-8:30 to come check out the work and say hello. Refreshments will be served. The address is 811 E Burnside # 114 (in the same building as Grass Hut and Stand Up Comedy).

About the Show:

"New Work"

This installation created especially for the space takes on the subject of love lost and found. A forest of creatures, healing plants and patterns has been created as a meditation space for the viewer
to ruminate on support, solace, and the numerous gains that stem from loss.
